Working principle and matters
The working principle of heat-shrinkable tool holder is based on the physical phenomenon of thermal expansion and cold contraction. Specifically, the heat-shrinkable tool holder uses the difference of thermal expansion coefficients between the tool holder (usually made of special stainless steel) and the tool (such as cemented carbide tool) to achieve high-precision clamping effect. Firstly, the clamping part of the knife handle is heated by a thermal induction device to expand it. Then, insert the tool into the inner hole of the tool handle. When the tool handle is cooled, the tool handle will contract and tightly clamp the tool due to the principle of thermal expansion and cold contraction, thus forming a high-precision connection.
The application scenarios of heat-shrinkable tool holder include high-speed finishing, heavy-duty and powerful milling in aerospace industry, deep cavity machining of mold and so on. Its characteristics include uniform clamping force, compact structure, suitable for high-speed rotation, improving cutting speed and feed rate, improving the quality of machined surface and prolonging the life of cutter and spindle.
Matters needing attention in the use of heat-shrinkable handle:
Heating procedure: When heating the tool handle, it should be operated in strict accordance with the corresponding heating procedure to avoid overheating. The heating tool holder needs to be cooled to room temperature before the second heating, so as to avoid the precision reduction caused by overheating of the heat-shrinkable tool holder, which will seriously lead to the scrap of the tool holder and the damage of the heating coil.
Protective measures: Please wear protective gloves when taking the heat-shrinkable handle or cutter to avoid being scratched by sharp cutting edges or scalded by the heated handle.
Clamping mode: When the heat-shrinkable tool holder clamps the tool, a suitable special tool or cemented carbide tool should be selected. If the tool is too long, it is easy to produce vibration during machining and reduce the machining accuracy. Therefore, the clamping should be carried out according to the maximum clamping length required by the handle.
